Bridgeport Firefighters quickly extinguished a basement fire in the 700 block of Wood Avenue. Everyone made it out safely and there were no reported injuries according to unconfirmed radio reports. https://youtu.be/QlbwqzLn_Pk On September 5th, 2024, the Bridgeport Police Department (BPD) received a complaint from a teenage female victim who reported being sexually assaulted by a suspect on the east side of Bridgeport. The BPD’s Special Victim’s Unit (SVU) took charge of the investigation and quickly identified the suspect. SVU Detective Brian Coyne obtained an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Aki Johnson of Bridgeport CT charging him with Risk of Injury to a child, Strangulation in the 2nd Degree, and Sexual Assault in the 3rd Degree. The bond was set at $75,000. On November 14, 2024, the US Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force took Johnson into custody at his home in Bridgeport.

CODIS (Combined DNA Index System), is a national database that law enforcement uses to store and compare DNA profiles. CODIS is a tool that combines forensic science and computer technology to help solve crimes. The CODIS hit was a match for 27-year-old Youssef Mohammed. Report of a tractor trailer truck that struck another at the I-95 Northbound Exit 22 Rest area. The current unconfirmed radio report is that the truck struck another, and there is a lot of fuel spilled on the ground, possibly from a struck fuel pump. It was initially reported as a rollover but first responders on scene report there is no rollover. UPDATE: The struck fuel pump has been confirmed by a reporting first responder, and fuel is leaking into the storm drain.
On November 13, 2024, Officer Fischetti, assisted by Officers Almeida and Lewin, conducted a vehicle stop in the 100 block of Savoy Street for motor vehicle violations. During the stop, officers identified Kelvin Arroyo-Olivo in possession of 16 bags of marijuana, packaged for street sale. Officers seized 2.61 pounds of marijuana, $720 in cash, and a small digital scale. Arroyo-Olivo faces charges for improper parking, possession with intent to sell, and operation of a drug factory. His bond was set at $25,000.
