Joshua DeJesus, 25, of Bridgeport, was arrested by Westport police on October 30, 2024, on an outstanding warrant linked to a smash-and-grab larceny at Lux Bond & Green on May 9, 2024. DeJesus was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Larceny in the First Degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the First Degree, and held on a $250,000 bond; he was transported to Stamford Superior Court for arraignment on October 31, 2024.
On October 30, 2024, the Police Department responded to a suspected swatting call at St. Joseph High School, where a report claimed a man was seen outside with a gun. As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown, and officers conducted a thorough search of the area and facility. Following their investigation, police confirmed there was no immediate threat to students or the public, and no individual matching the description was located. The Police Department advises the public to stay informed and avoid the area during such incidents to allow emergency services to complete necessary safety checks.
On October 21, 2024, Norwalk Police learned that a vehicle stolen from Norwalk was recovered in New Haven. Detectives identified the recovered 2010 Ford Crown Victoria as belonging to the Norwalk Engineering Department, last driven on October 10 and observed at City Hall on that date. On October 19, it was reportedly used in a "Street Take Over." Detectives gathered evidence and obtained an arrest warrant, leading to the October 26 arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile, who was taken into custody without incident and sent to Juvenile Detention in Bridgeport. Police confirmed that shots were fired in the dining hall at the University of Bridgeport. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been transported to the hospital.
