A wrong-way driver on Route 8 Northbound in Shelton caused a head-on collision early on August 28, 2024, leading to a DUI arrest. At around 1:25 AM, Troopers from Troop I in Bethany responded to reports of a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes near exit 12. Before Troopers could reach the scene, the wrong-way driver, identified as 39-year-old Andrea Lynn Marseglia of Orange, collided with another vehicle. The adult driver and juvenile passenger of the other vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.
On arrival, Troopers observed that Marseglia, who was driving a white Lexus IS250, showed signs of impairment. She consented to and failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Based on the evidence gathered, Marseglia was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child, operating under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving the wrong way on a divided highway. She was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on September 11, 2024.
