On August 29, 2024, officers stopped a vehicle at State Street and West Avenue due to an equipment issue. They found that the driver, Brian Figueiredo Silva, was operating the vehicle with an expired license. During the vehicle inspection, officers discovered a significant amount of marijuana, THC cartridges, and a firearm with an extended magazine. The firearm had no serial number, commonly referred to as a ghost gun. Silva was already subject to a protective order that prohibited him from owning or possessing a firearm, and he did not have a pistol permit. He was arrested and charged with several offenses, including possession with intent to sell, carrying a firearm without a permit, and violating a protective order. Additionally, Silva received infractions for driving with tinted windows, without a valid license, and without proof of insurance. His bond was set at $75,000.
