Opera & Poetry Highlighted at Stratford Library April 21

The Stratford Library will host a special opera and poetry event in conjunction with “National Poetry Month” and featuring Italian poet and opera singer Stefano Russo on Sunday, April 21 at 2 pm. The program is free and open to the public. Stefano Russo is an Italian American artist born in Rome, Italy who moved to the United States in 2011.His artistic history began with opera singing and led to a passion for writing, especially poetry. He published hisfirst collection of poems, “Life, a Labyrinth of Thoughts,” in 2017 and another collection entitled “Beyond theChains of the Mind,” in 2017. Norwalk News: Vape ShopSearch Warrant and Arrest

#Norwalk CT--On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the Norwalk Police Special Services Division, in collaboration with the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (Drug Control Division), executed a Search and Seizure warrant at Smoke House 1 vape shop, situated at #108 Connecticut Avenue. This action is part of an ongoing investigation into non-licensed smoke/vape shops selling marijuana within the City of Norwalk. Smoke House 1 lacks the required license from the State of Connecticut to sell cannabis products exceeding the legal limit. GOVERNOR LAMONT APPLAUDS PRESIDENT BIDEN’S APPROVAL OF NEW FEDERAL RULE EXPANDING BACKGROUND CHECKS ON GUN SALES

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont is applauding an announcement made today by the White House that the Biden-Harris administration has approved a new federal rule implementing a key provision of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022 that clarifies who must register as a federally licensed firearms dealer and requires anyone who sells firearms to conduct criminal and mental health background checks on potential buyers, regardless of how a sale is conducted. The requirement addresses a loophole in federal rules that up until now did not require background checks for firearms that are sold online and at gun shows. The Stratford Police Department Narcotics, Vice & Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration Bridgeport HIDTA conducted a narcotics sales investigation within the Town of Stratford into Edward C Johnson.  Based on this investigation, Search and Seizure Warrants were secured for the residence and Johnson’s vehicle.  At the time of the Search Warrant execution, Johnson engaged Investigators in a foot pursuit, attempting to discard packaged narcotics from his person. Johnson was taken into custody.  Upon warrant execution, Investigators seized over 2 pounds of Methamphetamine in both powder and tablet form, Oxycodone tablets, 6.5 pounds of Marijuana and $32,151.00 in illegal narcotics sales proceeds.  On 3/22/2024, Johnson plead guilty in United States Federal Court for the Distribution of Methamphetamine…
