Stratford Library Offers Yarn SwapCrafters Invited to Exchange on January 27

The Stratford Library Reference Department and its Knit Wits program present a Yarn Swap on Saturday, January 27 (2024) at 11 am. The program is free and open to the public. One crafter’s unwanted yarn is another’s inspiration. Do you have a yarn stash that is languishing, unused and unappreciated?Crafters are invited to bring their unwanted yarn to the Library’s first-ever Yarn Swap. Participants should package their yarn in clear bags and be ready to negotiate with fellow yarn lovers. Tables will be available to set-up and display yarns and crafters can also bring knitting accessories (books, needles, project bags) which need to be in good and clean condition. $6.6 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for eight traffic safety projects in Connecticut.

The Connecticut congressional delegation, including U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy, along with U.S. Representatives John B. Larson, Rosa DeLauro, Joe Courtney, Jim Himes, and Jahana Hayes, has announced $6.6 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for eight traffic safety projects in Connecticut. The funds, awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program, aim to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Fairfield News: Lenox Jewelry Burglary Arrest

On 11/29/23 at around 11:30 pm, the Fairfield police responded to a glass break alarm at Lenox Jewelers located at 2500 Black Rock Turnpike. When an Officer arrived on scene, he located a vehicle exiting the parking lot of Lenox Jewelers. The Officer was unable to stop the vehicle as it fled at a high rate of speed. Officers confirmed that a burglary in fact just occurred. Entry was made through a smashed out front window and around $56,000 in jewelry had been taken. The investigation of the burglary was then followed up by the Quality-of-Life unit who collaborated with the Bridgeport Auto Theft Task Force. BOLO (Be On the Look Out)

The Bridgeport Police have released a video of a "person of interest "in a case involving a deceased woman found in shopping cart in an East End parking lot in November. The deceased female was identified as 37 year-old Rickeyta Baker, DOB: 01/20/86. of Bridgeport. She was discovered next to a dumpster, behind 1028 Stratford Ave., at approximately 4:00 p.m. on November 3rd, 2023. The department's Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Detectives located surveillance video that showed what appeared to be a male wheeling Ms. Baker into the lot in the shopping cart, three days earlier, on October 31st, 2023. at approximately 3:30 a.m. The same person was then seen on video walking north of Fifth St several minutes…
