Troopers Respond to Wrong-Way Driver on I-95 in Milford

#Milford CT--On Sunday, August 20, 2023, at approximately 10:29 p.m., Troop G in Bridgeport was advised of a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound travel lanes on Interstate 95 in the area of Exit #39 in Milford. Responding Troopers observed a silver Subaru Forester displaying a Connecticut registration, traveling south in the northbound lanes and initiated a motor vehicle stop, safely bringing the vehicle to a stop in the area of Exit #37. Troop G was further advised that the Subaru had struck another vehicle prior to being stopped by troopers. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision. On 08/18/2023 the Shelton Police Department arrested 28-year-old Matthew McGovernof Shelton. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in the walking trails in thearea of Wesley Drive in Shelton. At approximately 4:30 PM a mother, with her 5-year-old son was walking in the trails and came upon a man with pants down and his penisexposed. The complainant reported that the man appeared to be masturbating. TheShelton Police were called and when they arrived, they observed the man with his pantsstill down. The man was identified as McGovern and was taken into custody.McGovern was charged with Public Indecency and Breach of Peace. He was released ona $500.00 bond and given a Derby Superior court date of 09/01/2023.

Westport News: Woman Dies In I-95 Crash

Westport News: Woman Dies In I-95 Crash State Police said a woman lost her life in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 95. The woman who passed has been identified as 44-year-old Julia Delva Clarke from Fairfield. The collision happened on the northbound lanes of I-95, just south of exit 18, around 12:30 a.m. The vehicles involved in the crash were a tractor-trailer and a Porsche Macan. According to reports from troopers, the tractor-trailer had come to a stop in the right lane due to heavy traffic conditions. Julia Delva Clarke, who was driving the Porsche, rear-ended the stationary tractor-trailer. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Lt Thomas Minar Sr Retires After 30 Years At Bridgeport Police

Lt Thomas Minar Sr retired from the BPD effective 8/15/2023 after 30 years of service. While the majority of his career was in patrol he did serve in the Traffic Division where he became a certified accident reconstruction specialist. He also served in dispatch as a supervisor prior to it becoming staffed fully by civilians. As a sergeant, Tom, was awarded a reward for bravery for an incident in Greene Homes where a suspect attempted to shoot both Sgt Minar and his partner. Sgt Minar was able to disarm the suspect without incident. Lt Minar is looking forward to his second career as a rural letter carrier and spending time with his beloved dog, Sully and occasionally with his family!
