Bridgeport News: Person Shot During Robbery

#Bridgeport CT--On April 29, 2023, at approximately 5:55 am a 54-year-old Bridgeport man presented at an area hospital suffering from a single gunshot wound to the stomach. The victim states he out walking early this morning on Atlantic Street near its intersection with Waldemere Avenue when he was approached by an unidentified male. The unidentified male demanded money, shot the victim, and immediately fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. Nothing was taken. The victim returned to his car, that was parked close by, and drove himself to the hospital. The victim’s injury is reported to be non-life-threatening. He is listed in stable condition. TONG CALLS ON PUBLIC UTILITIES REGULATORY AUTHORITY TO REJECT “BLOATED, UNSUPPORTED” RATE HIKE

(Hartford, CT) – Attorney General William Tong today called on the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority to reject a “bloated, unsupported” $130.7 million rate hike sought by United Illuminating, and to further impose a $2 million annual penalty for the company’s ongoing failure to remediate the former English Station power plant in New Haven. United Illuminating is requesting to raise electric rates by as much as 8 percent over three years, increasing its revenues by $91.1 million in the first year alone, followed by an additional $20.1 million in the second year, and yet another $19.5 million in the third year.  New rates would take effect after September 2023. Bridgeport News: Attempt To Kidnap Student

#Bridgeport CT--On April 27, 2023, at approximately 11:00 am, Bridgeport Police Officer Dani Soto was dispatched to Central High School to check on the welfare of an 18-year-old female student. The student lost cell phone contact with a friend as she was leaving the school campus walking towards North Avenue. #Fairfield CT-- On Thursday, April 27, 2023, at approximately 12:30am, the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting that a female was found on Johnson Drive and was claiming to have been robbed of $15,000 in cash. The “victim” reported that she was driving her vehicle when two black males, operating an older model sedan-type vehicle, activated flashing blue and red emergency lights and pulled her over at the intersection of Johnson Drive and Chambers Street. Bridgeport News: Homicide On Denver Avenue

Police UPDATE: On April 26, 2023, at approximately 8:15 pm, Bridgeport Police responded to the 100 block of Denver Avenue on a ShotSpotter activation.  ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system.  Once gunshots are fired in an area covered by this service, police receive a notification within one minute directing them to the location of the gunfire.    Police officers responded to Denver Avenue, collected several items of evidence, conducted interviews, canvassed the area, and documented their investigation.
