Fairfield News: Penfield Pavilion & Fill Pile Court Update

Fairfield First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick released this report: Former Fairfield public works superintendent Scott Bartlett, former conservation director and interim director of public works Brian Carey, former Fairfield human resources director Emmet Hibson and the co-owner of Julian Enterprises, Jason Julian, all applied for and were denied accelerated rehabilitation. Former CFO Robert Mayer's decision was postponed until December 20th. It's important to note that the Deputy DEEP Commissioner was present in the hearing and spoke out against the applications for accelerated rehabilitation. Many residents have expressed to me their frustration and asked how they can share their opinion with the court. Fairfield News: K-9 Ruger Crosses the "Rainbow Bridge" #Fairfield CT-- I'm sad to report that K-9 Ruger of the Fairfield Police Department was put down this morning. In 2011 Ruger was the first K-9 in the Fairfield Police Department. His handler was Officer Kevin Wells. In 2015 Ruger suffered on-the-job injuries that forced his retirement. Ruger was named after the Ruger Firearms company headquarters in Southport. The K-9 program in Fairfield is funded by private funds from citizens, school children participating in fundraisers, and local businesses like BMW of Bridgeport. Ruger was 12 years old. Milford News: Tobacco Compliance Inspections

Milford CT-- On November 14, 2022, the Milford Police Department working with the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program (TPEP) conducted unannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell tobacco products and/or electronic cigarettes. The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of e-cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of 21. Retailers are required by state law to inspect the photo ID of anyone who appears under the age of 30 before selling a tobacco product or electronic cigarette. Bridgeport News: Fire on Federal Street

3:58am--#Bridgeport CT-- Firefighters were called to a structure fire in the 100 block of Federal Street.  Police were first on the scene and reported heavy fire on the 2nd floor of a multi-family building.   The police then worked to make sure everyone was out of the building.  Firefighters had called the evacuation tone to get all the firefighters out of the building and fight the fire from outside.  Within 40 minutes the firefighters had the bulk of the fire out.  There were no reported injuries. https://youtu.be/eHB9cH6abxg
