2021 Family Holiday Giving Program

Fairfield Social Services has kicked off its 2021 Family Holiday Giving Program to help Fairfield families in need during the  holiday season. Last year more than 150 families received gift cards, generously donated by their neighbors, including individuals, businesses, faith-based and community  organizations. COVID has brought many challenges from job loss to childcare expense and many worries in between. Rather than   collecting wrapped gifts and toys, we are again requesting gift cards for supermarkets, gas stations, your favorite local stores and businesses, Amazon, Target, Walmart - anywhere families shop for their loved ones for the holidays. Bridgeport News: Another Homicide

Police UPDATE: This morning, shortly after 2 a.m., Raheem Lynch (DOB: 2/2/97 of 96 Chamberlain Avenue) was fatally shot just minutes after exiting Mystique, a night club at 2456 Main Street. The shooting occurred only a few doors away from the club. A friend of Lynch drove him to Saint Vincent’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The motive for the shooting is still unclear. INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives approved the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which includes $550 billion in new federal funding to rebuild roads and bridges; repair rail networks; support public transportation; invest in broadband; improve auto safety; combat the climate crisis; and create millions of new jobs.
