Fairfield News: Kohl’s Transformation Gets Go-Ahead – Site Work Has Begun

#Fairfield CT--The former Kohl’s site at 290 Tunxis Hill Road, Fairfield, has begun site work in preparation for its planned interior fit-out to accommodate new tenants, Aldi and Floor & Décor. The site’s new owner, Michael Berkowitz, anticipates that interior construction will begin within the next two weeks, and he plans for tenant occupancy by mid-2021. In June of 2019, Mr. Berkowitz purchased the Kohl’s property and two adjoining parcels totaling 6.9 acres. The purchase price was 12.5 million dollars. The parcel occupied by Russell Speeder Car Wash at 620 Villa Avenue will remain as such, and plans for 160 Greenfield Street, currently a parking lot, has not been solidified. DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER PROTECTION CAUTION BUSINESSES TO LOOK OUT FOR UNOFFICIAL “ANNUAL REPORT” MAILING

Hartford, CT – Attorney General William Tong, Secretary of State Denise Merrill and Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull today cautioned businesses to avoid paying unnecessary fees to entities offering assistance with annual report business filings. State agencies have received over 100 complaints in the past week alone regarding official-looking mailers from companies seeking additional fees to file annual reports for Connecticut businesses. These extra fees are not necessary and can be avoided by filing directly with the Secretary of the State. The filing period begins on January 1. Bob The Builder Now Playing At Bridgeport Cinemas

#Bridgeport CT--I knew the Bridgeport Cinemas at Canfield and Brewster Street was sold and was going to turn into apartments, but I didn't realize how quickly the theaters were demolished. The theaters went on the market in 2014 and recently sold for $7.7 million. Eastpointe LLC and Spinnaker Development who purchased it, plan to use the property to build a 300-unit, multifamily development to be named Canfield Park at Fairfield Metro. The Fairfield Cinemas was recently boarded up and will not reopen after the Covid restrictions. No word on any buyers or future plans for that property.

The victim alleged that while his vehicle had been parkedunattended on Riverside Avenue it had been vandalized, causing over $2,000.00 in estimatedtotal damage to the body of the vehicle and to its tires. Through an investigation that included thereview of surveillance footage, James Mozingo was developed as a suspect in this incident.
