Fairfield News: Thanksgiving Evening House Fire

Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola said the Narrow Street homeowner had a fire going in the fireplace when they noticed flames coming from the light fixtures above the fireplace. When firefighters arrived, they found flames on the left side of the home. Firefighters made a quick exterior attack with water stored on one of the firetrucks. They then began opening the wall inside Firefighters managed to keep the fire from extending to the second floor and into the attic. Engine 1, 2, 3, 4, Tac5, Truck 1 responded with atotal of 22 Firefighters, one shift Commander, and two Safety Officers. On arrival,heavy fire was visible at the rear exterior of the Cape Cod-style home. The fireextended up the exterior vinyl siding and enter the kitchen. The interiorsuffered heavy fire and smoke damage. The fire was under control in less than 20minutes. GOVERNOR LAMONT ANNOUNCES FINES FOR BUSINESSES VIOLATING COVID-19 RULES INCREASE TO $10,000

HARTFORD, CT--Governor Ned Lamont announced that he has signed an executive order increasing the amount that businesses can be fined for violations of the state’s COVID-19 sector rules and capacity limits to $10,000 per violation. The governor said he is taking this action – which goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, November 26 – as the result of feedback he has received from municipal leaders, public health officials, and people from within the business community. 2020-11-25@2PMish--#Westport CT-- The Westport Fire Department along with Westport Policeand EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Saugatuck Ave at the intersection ofCharles St. Units arrived on scene and found a utility truck and a passenger vehicle involved ina crash. The utility truck struck a utility pole after impact and the pole subsequently fell on topof the truck. Power and other utility lines fell on top of the truck and the surrounding area. It isbelieved that the fallen power lines caused phone and cable lines to ignite and burnapproximately 150 feet south of the accident. Shelton News: Armed Robbery-Victim Shot

2020-11-24@10:45PM (no typo--Shelton Police responded to the area of 320Coram Ave for a report of a shooting. Police located the 35-year-old male victim whostated that he stopped inside the Wells Fargo Bank on Coram Ave to make a transaction.The victim exited the bank and was approached by two black males wearing masks andhoods. Both male suspects had guns and took the victim’s wallet and phone. The malesuspects fled on foot and the victim began to follow them. One of the male suspects thenturned and shot the victim in the foot. The victim was transported to the hospital withnon-life-threatening injuries.
