Stratford News: White Oak Tree Donated

STRATFORD – As part of a statewide effort from the Connecticut Tree Protective Association (CTPA), a white oak has been donated to the Town of Stratford, and planted on the green in front of Town Hall this week.  The planting is in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the passage of the state’s Arborist Law.  The law requires licensure for practicing arborists in the state, putting Connecticut ahead of other states when it comes to tree care.   “I thank the CTPA for their gift to the Town of Stratford in commemoration of our state’s critical Arborist Law, and I am hopeful that this tree will grow strong and proud here out in front of our Town Hall building for residents…

Veterans Honored

HARTFORD, CT] – On Friday, November 8, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Wall of Honor in Hartford, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) will present service medals to Specialist Third Class (SP-3) Calvin J. Manship of East Hartford in recognition of his service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. SP-3 Manship served for over a year overseas, where his most significant duty assignment was serving with Headquarters Company, 11th Airborne Division. The medals being awarded to SP-3 Manship are the Good Conduct (Army) Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal; United Nations Service Medal; Combat Infantry Badge; and Parachutist Badge.   This press release was made possible by:
