Bridgeport, CT - Mayor Ganim announced today that the excessive Heat Warning remains in effect for Friday July 19th through Sunday July 21st. The city’s EOC representatives are currently monitoring the weather and note that high pressure, sunshine, and southwest wind will send temperatures into the 90’s with heat indices near 100. Hotter and more humid weather is anticipated for Saturday with highs 95-100 and the heat indices expected to be near 110 degrees. 2019-07-20 @ 12:45pm --A crash on River Road near Booth Memorial Park injured 15 people including 7 children. First responders activated a triage at the scene to care for the injured. Shelton sent mutual aid with EMS and firefighters. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
The Fairfield and Bridgeport Firefighters welcomed Matt Gregg, a retired Apple executive who is running across the country to bring further attention to the associated higher cancer rates in firefighters. Matt today started off his run at the Home Depot in Fairfield onto Fairfield Avenue to State Street, to Water Street to Fire Headquarters. Matt zig-zagged across the country starting in California and will run back home in New Hampshire.

STRATFORD – The annual “Blues on the Beach” summer music festival is about to take place this Saturday, July 20, and this year a designated drop-off and pick-up zone has been established for the event located at Wayne’s Walk at the intersection of Riverdale Drive and Lighthouse Ave. This will serve as a designated drop-off or pick-up area for Uber, Lyft or taxis and other passenger services to accommodate their customers. #Bridgeport CT-- On Wednesday, the Bridgeport Complete Count Co-Chairs and State of CT Co-Chair presented an information forum of the “Bridgeport Counts” U.S. Census 2020 Campaign. Bridgeport is proud to be the first city in Connecticut to pass local resolutions creating a municipally led “Complete Count Task Force” to ensure that the 2020 Census in Bridgeport is as accurate as possible. An accurate count is important to ensure the city receives the proper federal funding to not only provide services.
