Police UPDATE---A 22 year old Bridgeport man was traveling northbound on Madison Avenue operating a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle. As the motorcycle approached the intersection of Madison Avenue and Garfield Avenue a 36 year old Bridgeport man, operating a 2010 Toyota RAV4, was travelling eastbound on Garfield Avenue. The Toyota RAV 4 continued east on Garfield Avenue, crossed over Madison Avenue, and collided with the motorcycle. This collision caused the operator of the motorcycle to be ejected and land on the sidewalk at the northeast corner of the intersection. #Ansonia CT--George & Lee-Ann’s Pool Party Band lead off with Saturday in the Park for the re-dedication of Abe Stone / Colony Park. Mayor Cassetti said he remembers as a child playing in the park and had noticed the decline in the park. He then set out to refurbish one of Ansonia’s public park jewels. Together with sponsors and utilities he was able to muster $17,000 make this happen. Installed were picnic tables, a boating pier, hiking trails, trails around the pond. The basketball courts were refurbished along with volleyball and soccer fields. The snack shack was also completely refirbished. Police UPDATE: On July 27, 2019 at 0113 hours, shots were fired at Newfield Avenue/ Revere Street. A 32 year old male victim was struck multiple times by gunfire and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A large crowd formed after the shooting and was dispersed by patrol officers. Detectives worked throughout the night to process a crime scene and are working to establish a motive. On July 23, 2019 The Stratford Police Department responded to a report of a preteen who was sexually assaulted in Town. It was determined the preteen met the suspect through the social media application “Snapchat”. The suspect created fake profiles on several social media applications. Using the fake profile the suspect lured the preteen from a residence where he sexually assaulted victim. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Reginald W Sharp (DOB 03/13/1985) of Bridgeport. Sharp is a convicted sex offender currently on the sex offender registry.
