Westport News: Capture-A-Cop Middle School Capture-the-Flag

Westport, CT - The Westport Youth Commission and Westport Police Department will host a friendly game of Capture-the-Flag for Westport Middle School students on Sunday, September 16 at 3:30 pm on Jesup Green. Youth Services Program Director Kevin Godburn stated, “Modeled after the popular Dodge-A-Cop each November at the high school, this game brings our local middle school students together with some of Westport’s finest to get to know one another and build positive relationships outside of an enforcement setting. Before rehearsals begin for the 2018 Christmas Spectacular, the Radio City Rockettes will visit six local tri-state area libraries to engage with fans and families. Join the Rockettes from September 12-14 for holiday lights-themed crafting sessions where children and families from the local communities will be able to decorate jars filled with festive lights. Bridgeport News: Missing 7 Year Old Girl LOCATED

12:51am--#Bridgeport CT-- The missing 7-year old girl has been located in a home on Bunnell Street sound asleep.  Police left no stone unturned and followed up on every lead.  It sounds like a family mix up but this has not been confirmed.   12:00am--#Bridgeport CT-- Police are looking for a 7-year-old Asian/American girl in the 200 block of Washington Avenue.  She was last seen wearing a black and white top with black pants.  There are not a lot of details on this as this is breaking news, police are still trying to piece this together.  A recent photo of her is below.  Media can use this photo and description.

Westport Police Department’s K9 Onyx will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Onyx’s vest is sponsored by Family and Friends of John Buffone and will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of John Buffone - Beloved husband and Dad”. Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.   Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. Westport News: Firefighters Receive Fed Funding For Personal Escape System

#Westport CT--The Westport Fire Department received official notification that we have been awarded $28,814 in federal funding to purchase and outfit our firefighters with Personal Escape Systems. A Personal Escape System is an essential component of a firefighter’s personal protective gear and consists of an anchoring hook, a descent device, life safety rope or webbing, a carabiner and a storage/ deployment bag. These essential pieces of equipment become integrated into a firefighter’s gear by connecting to a harness worn in the protective bunker pants. The equipment purchased with this grant will provide our firefighters with a rapid and effective means of egress should they become trapped by fire and need to bail out of a window. 7:39pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A man called the police that he was being followed by his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend at Capital and Main Street.  He drove to police headquarters at 300 Congress Street.  The victim turned onto Lyon's Terrace and at the police booking ramp.  Both vehicles stopped and police detained them both.  Police found a firearm in the ex's car and arrested him.   This news report is made possible by:

Westport News: 2 Nabbed On Forgery/Identity Theft

#Westport CT--On 06/06/18, investigators were contacted by an employee of Toyota of Westport. The vendor who launders employee uniforms turned in a wallet located in the pocket of a pair of pants that had been cleaned. The wallet belonged to ex-employee, Deshawn Sawyer, but was found to contain two checks belonging to a Toyota customer. The investigator learned Sawyer had stolen the checks while he was working as a valet at Toyota. He would then provide them to a friend, Daishaun Murphy, who would deposit them into his account. The victim was contacted and reported another check had been stolen from her and deposited at TD Bank. The check was written out to Daishaun Murphy with “landscaping” noted in the…
