Task Force Makes Arrest & Seizes Multiple Firearms

#Bridgeport CT-- On April 3, 2018 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Detectives from the Statewide Urban Violence Cooperative Crime Control Task Force (SUVCCCTF) and the Statewide Narcotic Task Force SW Office executed a search warrant at 769 Beechwood Ave 1st Floor Bridgeport.   During the search, Detectives located (3) 9mm handguns, a Tri-Star, Glock 17 and an FNP.  Both the Tri Star and Glock 17 were determined to be stolen out of Georgia.  Detectives also located 11.1 grams of marijuana, 4.6 grams of crack, 11.2 grams of heroin, 76 ecstasy pills (27.7 grams), a 50 round drum, a high capacity magazine and 44 9mm rounds of ammunition.   The accused, Kareem Porter an 18 y/o male resident of that address, was taken…

Bridgeport News: Sidewalk Repair

Bridgeport, CT – In fulfillment of a campaign promise, Mayor Ganim today presented one of the success stories for the Sidewalk Repair Pilot Program at the home of Bridgeport resident Cynthia Dawkins and her family. “During my campaign for Mayor, I met Ms. Dawkins and her family.  She expressed her frustration over the poor sidewalk conditions and how her son was having a tough time getting around in his wheelchair. She, like many residents I spoke with, had been voicing her concerns for several years with no resolve. I gave her my word that I would see this problem through. Bridgeport News: Cop Hit Responding To Call

7:49pm--#Bridgeport CT-- An officer responding code (lights and sirens) to an emergency call was heading south on Park Avenue and was allegedly clipped by a Toyota in the rear quarter panel.  The impact sent the police car sideways on the sidewalk, taking down a street sign and coming to a rest inches from a tree almost a block away near Cleveland Avenue.  The officer was shaken up but not seriously injured.  He was transported to the hospital as required by police protocol.  The driver and passengers of the Toyota were not injured.
