Westport News: Unusual Trespassing Call

#Westport CT--At approximately 9:00pm on 03/25/18, officers were dispatched to a gas station on a report of an unwanted party. Upon arrival, officers located Lee Bember, 30, of Bridgeport, parked in the lot. Officers learned Bember had an outstanding warrant out of Trumbull, CT. The victim reported that on the previous day, Bember entered the station and picked her cell phone off of the counter and called his own. Since then, Bember kept coming to the business after repeated verbal statements and texts to stay away and leave. Bember was taken into custody and transported to headquarters where officers located a bullet in his coat pocket. Bember was prohibited from possessing ammunition based on prior felony convictions. #Westport CT -- The Greens Farms Volunteer Fire Company will hold its 67 th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, 2018 on the grounds of Long Lots School, Hyde Lane, Westport at 2:00 PM. Westpot News: Marijuana Grow Operation Arrest

#Westpot CT--Approximately one month ago, the Westport Police Department received information from an anonymous source regarding a marijuana grow operation at 9 Tiffany Lane, Westport. The Westport Police Department Detective Bureau launched an investigation and executed a search warrant at the residence on March 28, 2018. During the search, an elaborate marijuana grow operation was located in the basement. Detectives seized lamps and other grow equipment in addition to xx marijuana plants. Residents Ricardo Tavares, 46, and Valonia Tavares, 51, were taken into custody. The couple had minor children residing in the home who were not present at the time of the search. Mayor Of Bankrupt Hartford & Candidate For Governor On State Assistance

HARTFORD, CONN. (March 28, 2018) – Mayor Luke Bronin issued the statement below in response to late afternoon letters from legislative leaders expressing concern about the State’s contract assistance agreement with the City of Hartford.  Last September, Mayor Bronin and City leadership sent a letter to State leaders explicitly warning against giving Hartford “just enough additional assistance to avoid short-term liquidity problems.”  Mayor Bronin said choosing that path “would avoid hard decisions or embarrassing outcomes for now,” but would “lead to decline, future fiscal crisis, and to continuing insolvency.”  That appears to be what Republican leaders are calling for. Dog Attacks Owner To Defend Girlfriend

4:40pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Police received multiple calls of a dog attacking a man at 127 Polk Street. Witnesses told me that the man allegedly starting arguing with his girlfriend and the dog attacked him to defend her. They said this is not the first time this has happened. Multiple sources told me the dog was shot by police but the dog did walk out on it's own power by a resident of the home. The man was injured and transported to the hospital.
