UPDATE:  Due to a recent fire in the compactor unit at the Westport Transfer Station, Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich is reminding all residents that spent ashes are to be disposed of in the clearly marked special ash bin available at the station.  Ashes should never be dumped in to the trash compactor. Specific questions regarding disposal of waste materials should be referred to the Weighmaster at the transfer station entrance, or any of the attendants in the yard.
