#Bridgeport CT--Thursday at 9:35am, officers responded to a 911 call coming from inside Eblens at 586 Pequonnock Street. The caller reported that the store was being robbed. An alert officer working an outside overtime job nearby immediately spotted the suspect exiting the store wearing a mask. The officer gave chase and the suspect turned and fired at him. The officer returned fire and with the help of other responding units, the robber, Jachim Brown (DOB 4/12/90), was apprehended. Officers recovered the stolen money, nearly $1900, the firearm used to shoot at the officer, the mask worn during the robbery, and the shell casing from Brown's gun. #Bridgeport CT-- Captain Porter of the Bridgeport Police confirmed that around 9:35am this morning the EdLens at 586 Pequonnock Street was robbed at gunpoint by a masked gunman. An officer working the construction where the water main break at North and Park Avenue recognized the scene as a robbery and gave chase. The suspect stopped and fired at the officer but missed. The officer and the suspect were NOT hit by the gunfire. The suspect's gun was found 510 Pequonnock Street, the money, and his mask was found on the side of the nearby nail salon. #Bridgeport CT-- Police spokesperson Av Harris confirmed a lead I received that the driver of the getaway car in this morning's robbery at EbLen's at 586 Pequonnock Street was involved in the shooting the bartender at Bar at 2399 Main Street in Stratford Tuesday night. 9:41am-- #Bridgeport CT-- A masked gunman entered and robbed the Eb Lens at 586 Pequonnock Street. Police was already in the area and were quick to respond to the situation. The suspect fired at police and police returned fire. The suspect was shot, police were not hit. The suspect was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital. Police are still looking for one more suspect who fled in a vehicle. Pequonnock to Chestnut Street for the investigation. Nearby Geraldine Johnson School and Columbus School were placed in lock in/lock out.
#Bridgeport CT-- #Stratford CT--Tonight, detectives arrested Lonnie Mebane (DOB: 9/30/64) at his house at 65 Masarik Ave in Stratford and served him with an arrest warrant charging him with the murder of Eric Diaz, which occurred at Beardsley Street and Newfield Avenue on the evening of September 14, 2017. Mebane allegedly shot Diaz during a robbery that occurred when Diaz entered his car to sell drugs to him. Mebane is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
