Westport News: Fire At Trader Joes

UPDATE From Westport Fire Department: At 8:53 this evening the Westport Fire Department Communications Center received a 911 call from an employee at Trader Joes on the Post Road reporting a fire in a refrigeration unit inside the store. The employee was attempting to extinguish the fire using a fire extinguisher but was unsuccessful. Dispatch advised the employee to pull the fire alarm to evacuate the store. Two engines, a truck company, and the shift commander responded initially. The first unit to arrive found smoke coming from the front of the store so the call was upgraded to a full structure fire response bringing an additional two engines from Westport and an additional engine from Fairfield. Westport Citizen Police Academny

#Westport CT--The Westport Police Department is proud to announce that we will be offering a Citizens’ Police Academy starting on September 29th. Participants will gain a better understanding of the role of the police department in the community. The academy can accommodate up to twenty-four community members who will participate in classes designed to take them through the various aspects of law enforcement. They will learn about the different divisions and specialized units of the department as well as how the department operates. Participants will observe demonstrations and get hands on experience with some of the equipment we use every day. Today’s 2nd Vehicle Fire

Stratford Fire Department Press Release: Stratford Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire within a boat that was on a trailer located at 150 Dawn Drive. Engine Company 4 arrived at the above address to find a 26 foot Chaparral SSX ski boat, in the driveway on a trailer heavily involved with fire and extending to the garage of the house. Fire Crews, Engine 4, Engine 2, Engine 1, Engine 3 Tack 5 and Truck 2 under the command of Assistant Chief Brennan were able to extinguish the blasé on the boat within 15 minutes and limit the homes damage to simple melting of the vinyl siding. Assistance was gained from Shelton Fire Department due to the limited water supply in the area.…

Bridgeport News: Man Shot In The Head

UPDATE: Av Harris just confirmed the man has died.     10:58am--#Bridgeport CT-- Witness told me they heard an exchange of gunfire on 6th Street around 11am and saw a white car speed away.  The witnesses said the gunfire found an innocent man working on his car in his driveway striking him in the head near/in his eye.  Police spokesperson Av Harris said the man "is not in good condition but at this point, this is not yet a homicide"   Chief AJ Perez can be seen in this photo arriving on the scene.
