Bridgeport News: Shots Fired Near School
6:18pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Shots were fired from a car in front of Blackham School at 425 Thorme Street. A person was reportedly hit and he supposedly got into a private vehicle but so far no gunshot victims have arrived at the area hospitals. A number of shell casings were found at the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and Thorme Street.
Fairfield News: Jennings Beach Sexual Assault Never Occurred Says Police
On 08/01/17 at approximately 4:40pm, a sex assault at Jennings Beach was reported to the Detective Bureau at Police Headquarters. While investigating these allegations, the Detective Bureau found no evidence to corroborate the victim’s account of what had occurred. After further investigation, the 18 year old female complainant who resides in Bridgeport retracted her statement to Detectives and confirmed that she was not a victim of a sexual assault, nor was she the victim of any other crime. Despite the outcome of this incident the Fairfield Police Department takes every report of sexual assault seriously and conducts a full and thorough investigation into all complaints. Fairfield News: No State Budget Cuts Library Hours
First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Interim Town Librarian Nancy Coriaty announced today that beginning Monday, August 14, 2017 the Fairfield Public Library - the Main Library and the Fairfield Woods Branch Library - will reduce hours of operation because of reduced staff and lack of a state budget. In response to the Town’s need to reduce expenses because of the State’s fiscal crisis and failure to pass a budget, the Fairfield Public Library Board of Library Trustees recently made the difficult decision to reduce hours.
