Stratford CT--The Stratford Health Department has partnered with LifeBridge Community Services Enterprise of Bridgeport to launch a Fresh Connections produce-distribution site in Stratford. This bi-monthly program will begin on Thursday, May 11th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Birdseye Municipal Complex. Fresh Connections, a cost-effective approach to providing residents with fresh produce, offers participants the opportunity to purchase a box of fresh fruits and vegetables twice a month or the ability to shop for individual items from the “pop-up” stand. Residents can purchase 10-12 pounds of produce for $10 or 20-25 pounds for $20. Pop-up items will vary in price. #Norwalk CT--On April 18, 2017 at 8:39 PM, Officer Michael Sellas was patrolling Chestnut Street and observed suspicious activity in the area of 57. As he approached the area in his police car, he observed a male in a white Toyota speaking to a juvenile. As the officer got closer, the male quickly drove away. The officer spoke with the juvenile who stated that the male had asked her to get into the car. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the male operator as Angel Jiminez-Barzallo. The Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and learned that Jiminez-Barzallo had grabbed the juvenile’s wrist and hand during this encounter and had only let go when he saw the police car. 9:04pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Just as I was leaving the brush fire on Valley Road in Fairfield a call for a house fire on Queen Street a half a mile a way came in. I know the firefighters are quick but I couldn't believe how quickly they had the bulk of this fire knocked down. Multiple calls said there was flames shooting out of the chimney. When I arrived the fire had already spread to the roof and the side of the house. Everyone made it out safely and a police sergeant was consoling them. 8:47pm--#Fairfield CT-- Firefighters were called to Random Road (off Valley Road) for a brush fire close to a structure. Firefighters quickly knocked the fire down. Firefighters told me the resident emptied contents from his fireplace which were supposedly out for a couple of days but obviously they weren't.
5:38pm--#Trumbull CT-- Trumbull EMS and police were called to the Trumbull Marriott at 180 Hawley Lane initially for a drowning. About ten minutes from dispatch radio reports said a paraplegic doing aquatics and went under the water but was brought up but that he was coughing up blood. I'm awaiting an update from the Trumbull Police Public Affairs Officer.
