Bridgeport News: 16 Year Old Shot

9:33pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut--2133 hours, a shooting incident occurred in front of 177 Denver Avenue, Bridgeport. Multiple shots were fired by an unknown assailant, and a 16 year old male victim was struck in the back by this gunfire. The victim was transported by medics to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment, and is in serious condition at this time. Detectives are at the incident location, and the Detective Bureau Identification Unit will process the crime scene. Bridgeport News: Large Rubbish Fire

9:34pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- Firefighters were called to 198 Calhoun Avenue for a rubbish fire in the back of the structure.  The fire spread to adjoining containers of the multi-family home.  There was also a car dealer with cars parked near the fence on Lexington Avenue that did received minor damage.   Firefighters quick response as well as calling for additional resources prevented the fire from extending into the house.  There were no reported injuries.

Fairfield News: Teacher Arrested At Warde High School

Below is an email from the superintendent of Fairfield School System.  There will be a police press release tomorrow.   The Fairfield Public schools was recently notified that a member of its staff at Fairfield Warde High School was arrested on January 16, 2017. At the time of the arrest, the employee was not at school or in contact with students. Immediately after school officials learned of the allegations approximately one month ago, the employee was placed on an administrative leave of absence pending an investigation. This action enabled the school district to ensure the safety of its students while also reserving immediate judgment on the employee. Westport News: Cracking Crack Pipe Nets Charges

#Westport News: On 01/12/17 at approximately 2:15pm, Officer James Baker observed a vehicle traveling south on I-95 without a working left brake light. The vehicle was stopped, and the operator was identified as Charles Vosgueritchian. Vosgueritchian was asked to exit the vehicle, and he consented to a body search. Officer Baker located a crack pipe in Vosgueritchian’s pocket and placed it on the trunk. Vosgueritchian was handcuffed and advised he was being detained. Vosgueritchian then reached his handcuffed arms to the trunk area, and knocked the crack pipe to the ground. He then intentionally stepped on the crack pipe and broke it into multiple pieces. Fairfield News: Fairfield In FEMA’s Flood Program

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield has been accepted into the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System (CRS). The CRS program awards communities that go above and beyond the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) requirements for flood plain management and requirements for construction in the flood plain. The letter to the First Selectman from FEMA CRS Coordinator William Lesser states, “The floodplain management activities implemented by your community qualify it for a 10 percent discount in the premiums cost of flood insurance for NFIP policies issued or renewed in Special Flood Hazard Areas on or after October 1, 2016.
