Westport Fire Recruits Graduate

#Westport Connecticut--Chief Andrew Kingsbury was the guest speaker last week for the Connecticut Fire Academy’s Recruit Class 58’s graduation ceremony held at Central Connecticut State University. Three Westport Firefighter’s graduated as members of Recruit Class 58. The new recruits completed an intense 14 week live in academy that focuses on developing the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for a new firefighter to preform entry-level tasks under direct supervision. Graduating today with Class 58 are Firefighters Elizabeth Ferguson, Joshua Gamble and Christopher Balich.

Smart Parking Meters Become Operational in Downtown Bridgeport

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today is reminding city residents and businesses that this week, downtown Bridgeport will see changes as new, smart parking meters will begin to become operational.  Trenching, electrical work and other logistical and infrastructural changes have been taking place on several downtown Bridgeport city blocks in preparation for the meters to start working.  By the end of the week, it is expected that two dozen of the new meters will begin working and when current work is complete, a total of 111 state-of-the-art parking meters in the central business and government district downtown to be fully operational.
