Bridgeport News: 5 Children Shot At Sweet 16 Party

UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Press Release: On November 12, 2016 at 2239 hours, police dispatch began to receive 911 calls regarding a disturbance at 2500 Park Avenue (Club Sportiva). The incident quickly escalated into a fight inside and then outside, and witnesses report that firearms were displayed. Shots were fired near the street and in the rear parking lot. A total of five (5) victims were struck by gunfire from what we believe were at least two shooters. Four victims were transported by medics to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and one victim was transported by medics to Bridgeport Hospital. #Stratford CT--Falls are a difficult and long-standing challenge for EMS providers. Due to a growing aging population, unintentional falls are a critical health issue for Stratford. Currently, more than 19% of residents are 65 and older. Preventing falls is an effective way to help seniors stay healthy, independent and reduce premature death. It also alleviates concern and hardships for caregivers. In 2015, SEMS responded to over 1100 falls. We have responded to approximately 800 so far for 2016. About 60% of those calls were for adults 65 years and older. While the majority of events report no harm or minor injury, falls can result in severe life-changing injury or even death.
