UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Press Release:

On November 12, 2016 at 2239 hours, police dispatch began to receive 911 calls regarding a disturbance at 2500 Park Avenue (Club Sportiva). The incident quickly escalated into a fight inside and then outside, and witnesses report that firearms were displayed. Shots were fired near the street and in the rear parking lot. A total of five (5) victims were struck by gunfire from what we believe were at least two shooters. Four victims were transported by medics to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and one victim was transported by medics to Bridgeport Hospital. All five victims (4 males and 1 female) sustained various gunshot wounds to their extremities. One male victim is in serious condition but is expected to survive. The four additional victims sustained non life-threatening injuries.

A party hall on the main floor at Club Sportiva was rented out to a non-club member to host a sweet sixteen party. According to the host, many people showed up at the party who were not invited, which likely contributed to this incident.

The crime scene is being processed by the Identification Unit and victim identifications are pending.

10:31pm–Bridgeport Connecticut– Five children were shot at a Sweet 16 Party at the Circolo Sportivo Italo Americano at 2500 Park Avenue. I spoke with Chief AJ Perez who said the wounds suffered were mainly leg wounds and that no one is in serious condition. The chief was upset that there was inadequate security at the party even after the party swelled to over 200 attendees. Police are looking for a gray Chrysler Crossover with New York plates in connection to the shooting. At 1:02am detectives located a firearm on the grounds of the club.
