#Bridgeport Connecticut– Mayor Joe Ganim announced today that he has appointed veteran fire inspector Henry Polite as Bridgeport’s next Fire Marshal. Polite is a 28 year-veteran of the Bridgeport Fire Department and has served as a Senior Inspector in the Fire Marshal’s division since 2010. As Fire Marshal he will oversee a 21-person division responsible for fire safety inspections and fire investigations in the city of Bridgeport. He is the second African-American to serve as Fire Marshal in Bridgeport. #Stratford Connecticut--Thursday evening the town of Stratford held a promotions and awards ceremony. Victor Velez and David Gugliotti were promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Antonio Santos and Carlos Castro were promoted to the rank of sergeant. Todd Moore was promoted to detective. A number of awards were presented as well as the Medal of Valor that was presented to Officer Paul Giegengack. Corporal Brian Norko and Mr. Arthur Gallant was presented the Chief's Award. Four recent retirees were also honored at the ceremony.

12:55pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut--Firefighters were called to the new Jewish Senior Center at 4200 Park Avenue for smoke on four floors of the building that is still under construction. Firefighters discovered it was a faulty air handler that cause the smoke. If it were really bad, our sponsor ServPro would have made it Like It Never Even Happened!
#Fairfield Connecticut---First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Conservation Director Brian Carey announced today that the Town of Fairfield was notified by the Exide Corporation and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CTDEEP) that the presence of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were detected in select dredge sediment samples that were collected from the currently stockpiled dredge materials that are located on the former Exide site at 2190 Post Road, Fairfield, Connecticut. The presence of PCBs in the stockpiled dredge spoils has triggered a mandatory review by CTDEEP and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the framework of the Toxic Substances and Control Act. The CTDEEP and EPA will review the new sampling data and will require additional authorizations prior to transporting…
#WASHINGTON, DC –Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) introduced the bipartisan Cyber Act of War Act, a bill that would require the Administration and the Department of Defense to develop a policy for determining when an action carried out in cyberspace constitutes a use of force against the United States and to update the Law of War Manual accordingly.
