  #Westport Town Clerk Patricia Strauss announced today that absentee ballots for the Democratic and Republican Presidential Preference Primaries, to be held April 26, are available at the Town Clerk's office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. -  4:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, April 5. Westport News: NOT Mother Of The Year…..

On 03/29/16, at approximately 8:00pm, Westport Officers were dispatched to two locations on reports of unattended children. Officers located a 5 year old juvenile at Walgreens, 880 Post Road East, assisted by a woman who found the juvenile alone. Officers also located a 1 year old juvenile in the area of Toyota of Westport, 777 Post Road East. The 1 year old was found by a group of adults in the area. This was by the same woman.  Officers determined the juveniles were siblings with a home address of 655 Post Road East. Officers located the juvenile’s mother, Natalie Bonny, at her residence. Bonny stated she left the children home alone to take the bus to go shopping. 9:04pm--(4/3/2016)--#Bridgeport Connecticut--A carjacking occurred at at Newfield and Beardsley Street said police spokesman Av Harris.  Police are looking for a heavyset black male wearing a blue hoodie and jeans, a woman was in his company but no description of her was given.  Taken was a gray 2002 Jeep Cherokee.  The victim was transported by EMS to the hospital with unknown injuries.   This report is made possible by:

Norwalk’s Distracted Driver Campaign

NORWALK, CT – The Norwalk Police Department is partnering with the Connecticut Highway Safety Office as part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month to crack down on drivers who choose to ignore Connecticut’s mobile phone laws. The joint effort will span through the month of April, kicking off on April 4th and running through April 30th. In 2014, an estimated 3,179 people were killed (10 percent of all crash fatalities) and an additional 431,000 were injured (18 percent of all crash injuries) in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers. Last year, Connecticut drivers started to get the message as a result of this crackdown, and law enforcement wrote over 22,000 citations as part of last year’s effort to get drivers to put down their phones and pay attention…

Here Is That Crash On The Merritt Earlier…

FAIRFIELD, CT, April 3, 2016: On Sunday April 3rd at 06:50 PM, The Fairfield Fire Department responded to the Merritt Parkway southbound in the area of Merwins Lane in Fairfield.  Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir, the Fire Department Shift Commander (Car 3) arrived on scene and found a single vehicle on its side next to a tree.  The vehicle was not on fire as reported, and Car 3 established command.  Engine 5, under the command of LT Patrick Barry, arrived on scene, assessed a single patient in the vehicle and found he required rapid extrication.  Engine 5 driver stretched a precautionary hose line in case of fire.
