There was a walk down memory lane at the Fairfield Public Library with author Patti Woods as she presented her book “Lost Restaurants of Fairfield” as part of the What’s Cooking Series at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road recently. Malloy today announced that he is banning non-essential state-funded travel to Mississippi, following that state’s enactment of a discriminatory law that allows businesses and nonprofit groups to refuse service to people based on their sexual orientation and gender identity. The state-funded travel ban falls under Executive Order No. 45, signed last year after Indiana enacted similar legislation. “Government should be in the practice of eliminating discrimination – not embracing it. This law in Mississippi is an active attempt to discriminate against the LGBTQ community. 1:28pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut--Police and fire officials are investigating a bizarre incident at Mountain Grove Cemetery at 2675 North Avenue. Workers at the cemetery called emergency personnel for a man who appeared to have burn injuries on his legs. Fire officials said he had some serious burns on his legs and was transported to the hospital. Cemetery personnel said they have never seen him before, police said he had identification on him but did not release his name at this time. There was scattered cigarettes, what appeared to be lighter fluid and lots of other miscellaneous items scatter about. The overturned gravestone was probably knocked over after the man caught fire but nothing is certain at this time. Two ball caps…

#Bridgeport Connecticut-@SacredHeart--4/5/2016-- The Narcotics/ Vice, task force and Detective Bureau personnel assisted by patrol conducted an operation at the Golden Star Cafe 3915 Main Street due to the suspicion of underage patrons being served alcohol. This establishment is where a sexual assault suspect arrested earlier today met his victim and is where they left the scene from on March 30th. Police anticipate about 100 infractions will be issued to mostly underage Sacred Heart University students for procuring alcohol while underage. The owner of the establishment is also being cited for several liquor violations. Ultimately 85 SHU students were cited for underage drinking and the owner was referred to the liquor commission for violations of state liquor law. This report…
