Westport News: Man Of Smash And Grab Turns Himself In

#Westport CT--On 01/19/2016, David Dagley turned himself in to the Westport Police Department on an outstanding warrant for the charges listed above. On 11/04/15 at approximately 1:00am, the accused and his accomplice, previously arrested Jacob Dagley, broke into the Merritt Country Store on Main Street in Westport by throwing a rock though the front glass. Accused then stole cigarettes valued at $545.61. Later that night, the accused and Jacob Dagley were involved in a high speed chase with the Milford Police Department and were arrested. Westport Detectives were able to connect Dagley to the crime by store video as well as the accused being in possession of the stolen goods.

Package Thief Turns Himself In

On 01/15/16, Sidney Nelson turned himself in on an active warrant held by the Westport Police for the charges listed above. Nelson was employed by a construction company doing work in Westport in December, 2015. While working in town, Nelson’s vehicle was recorded from home surveillance in the driveway of a residence that packages were taken from. Westport Detectives were able to track down Nelson and interview him regarding the video. Nelson confessed to the theft of packages and further admitted to multiple other package thefts in Westport and Fairfield. Nelson was charged with Larceny 5th degree as the total of the items stolen in Westport was $810.00. Fairfield Police are continuing to investigate the matter. Nelson posted the $5,000.00 bond and has a court date in Norwalk…
