$Bridgeport, Conn. (November 2, 2015) – Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, Police Chief Joseph Gaudett Jr., and members of the Bridgeport Police Department celebrated the opening of the new police memorial in front of police headquarters at 300 Congress St.
“This memorial has been a long-time in the making, but we’re proud to be able to give such a tribute to those who sacrifice day in and day out to keep our kids and families safe from harm,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “And, we’re especially proud and humbled to pay tribute to those who have given their lives for the safety and security of our city.”
“This is a memorial for all the officers that made the ultimate sacrifice for the Bridgeport Police Department,” said Police Chief Gaudett. “The memorial also serves as a reminder to our officers to remain vigilant.”
The memorial is surrounded by newly planted trees and a newly installed fountain. Park benches will soon be installed in the area as well.
