#Bridgeport, Conn. (October 29, 2015 Police Press Release) – Today, the Bridgeport Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect, Jesse DaCosta (DOB: 07/28/76), connected to a recent burglary incident at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church (4070 Park Ave.).  DNA evidence puts Mr. DaCosta at the scene of the crime. On Tuesday, October 27 at around 1:45 p.m., Mr. DaCosta turned himself in at Bridgeport Police Headquarters.  DaCosta has been charged with Jesse DeCostaburglary, larceny, and criminal mischief.

 

Background: On May 31, 2015 at around 9:15 a.m., police officers responded to a call about a burglary at the office of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 4070 Park Ave. Upon arrival, police officers were informed that $8,300 in cash, a $800 computer tower, and $1,700 in surveillance equipment were taken. Church officials reported that the church held an annual church fair to raise money the night before.  Detective Hoben and Detective Heanue determined that the suspect had gained access to the church’s management office from a second story air conditioner. Detectives surveyed the crime scene, interviewed witnesses, and swabbed areas of interest for fingerprints in order to turn up DNA evidence.
