#Bridgeport, Conn. (October 16, 2015 Press Release) – The Bridgeport Police Department announced an arrest of a man for stealing a motor vehicle.  On October 14, 2015 at around 4:20 p.m., police officers were traveling south on Derek WilliamsDover St. towards Boston Ave. in their police vehicle  The police officers observed a white Hyundai Accent turning onto Dover St. from Boston Ave. going north.  Knowing that a white Hyundai Accent was on the Bridgeport Police Department stolen vehicle list, police officers checked the plates against the stolen vehicle list.

 

Police officers matched the license plate of the Hyundai with a vehicle on the list.  Officers then made a U-turn, and caught up to the vehicle at the intersection of Dover St. and Tudor St.  The driver of the Hyundai then made a right turn onto Tudor St towards Remington St.  The vehicle continued eastbound across Remington St. onto Harvey St. As police officers followed the Hyundai, they confirmed with dispatch that the vehicle was stolen. Police officers activated their car lights, and  siren, and pulled the vehicle over on Boston Terrace near the corner of Boston Ave.

 

The driver, Derek Williams (12/06/96), was taken into custody without incident.   Williams was charged with larceny. Bond was set at $5,000.
