Bridgeport Police Arrest Man for Attempted Assault of an Officer and Assault of an EMT

#Bridgeport, CT (August 10, 2015) –Bridgeport Police Press Release:   This week, Bridgeport Police arrested a man for attempted assault of an officer and assault of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).  On Sunday, August 9, at 1:25 a.m. a police officer was flagged down while on patrol, and asked to respond to an incident at El Conquistador Sports Bar (4 Crescent Avenue).  When the officer arrived on scene the three suspects were standing outside drinking alcoholic beverages.   Security at El Conquistador Sports Bar informed the officer that suspects were asked to vacate the area, and were harassing patrons of the establishment.  The suspects ignored the police officer’s command to put down the alcoholic beverages.  The suspects then became verbally combative…

Bridgeport Police Seek Public Assistance in Identifying Robbery Suspect

#Bridgeport CT-- (August 11, 2015) – Today, the Bridgeport Police Department announced that it is seeking the public assistance in identifying a robbery suspect. On Friday, August 7, at around 4:30 p.m., a cell phone was left on the table by a patron of Popeye’s Chicken (287 North Avenue, Bridgeport, Conn.). The suspect is a male wearing a blue shirt. The suspect fled the scene in a gray, late model Chevrolet pickup truck with an extended cab.  Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Bridgeport Police Department at(203) 576-1311. Westport’s New Parks Director

Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe announced today that Jennifer A. Fava has been appointed   the Parks & Recreation Director for the Town of Westport. Ms. Fava will assume her duties effective September 1, 2015. She replaces former Parks & Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy who retired on June 1. Until recently, Ms. Fava served for three years as the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation in the Town of North Hempstead in New Hyde Park, N.Y. where she managed a work force of 385 full and part-time employees and oversaw an operating budget three times larger than Westport’s Parks & Recreation budget. Ganim Proposes Office of Public Integrity

#BRIDGEPORT  CT-- Today, former Bridgeport Mayor and 2015 mayoral candidate Joe Ganim unveiled a proposal to establish an Office of Public Integrity (OPI). The public’s interest in transparency and open government is a top priority for Ganim. Prompted in part by the recent cover up of crime statistics by the current administration, and the continued refusal to disclose the reevaluation numbers and hidden tax increases for the following calendar year, Ganim made the announcement for the OPI.
