UPDATE: Bridgeport Police Department have him in custody at Orange and Carroll Avenue. A silver BMW is being pursued by Stratford Police. The chase just exited Route 8 northbound exit 4, then back southbound. The car then exited Fairfield Avenue, the passenger got out of the car. The BMW continued east on John Street. #Bridgeport Police Arrest Suspect
“Officers reacted immediately and pursued the gunman on foot,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. “Officers converged on the area and the suspect was quickly arrested hiding behind a house on Saunders Avenue. And, police recovered a handgun.” Detectives arrested the suspect, identified as Gregory Weathers Jr., 33, of 449 Saunders Ave., for murder and gun charges. At this time, no motive had been established. The suspect and victim did not appear to know each other. The shooting happened at Chopsey Hill Road and Pond Street just after 9 a.m. The victim worked for Burns Construction company that was performing road work on Pond Street.
