Bridgeport News: Police Pursuit

7:02pm--#Bridgeport CT #Statford CT-- Pursuit of a stolen vehicle that started in Bridgeport ended at exit 53 of the Merritt Parkway.  Police did arrest the suspect.  Special thanks to Luis for sending the photo in! FREE STATE PARKS WEEKEND

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Robert Klee today announced that as part of the ongoing celebration of the state parks centennial, this upcomingSaturday and Sunday – July 26 and 27 – will be “Free State Parks Weekend” in Connecticut.  For the weekend, all parking and museum fees will be waived throughout Connecticut’s state park system.  “To encourage everyone to visit a state park in this Centennial year, we are waiving fees at our parks this Saturday and Sunday,” said Governor Malloy, who made the announcement during an event at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden – one of Connecticut’s 107 state parks.  “This means we will not charge the usual parking fees and we will not collect admission fees at…

Bridgeport Police Officer Helps Save Child’s Life

#Bridgeport, CT – July 23, 2014 – A police officer yesterday evening helped save the life of a child in the city. Officer Michael Novia was on patrol in the area of Park Avenue when a woman flagged him down and hysterically stated that her child was not breathing. Novia observed an unresponsive child in the back seat of the vehicle. He radioed dispatchers who alerted medical staff at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center of an incoming patient. He then activated his light and sirens, told the family to follow him and escorted the family to the hospital. Medical personnel at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center informed police that the child, who is 18-months-old, probably would not have survived if Novia had waited for an…

Stratford News: Child Left In Car

2:33pm--#Stratford CT-- First responders were dispatched. 444 Ferry Boulevard for a child left unattended inside a car (its 88 degrees out). FED EX Tractor Tractor Trailer Roll Over in Southport

# FAIRFIELD, CT, July 23, 2014: At approximately 2:28 AM Fairfield firefighters responded to a reported tractor-trailer rollover in front of 3355 Post Road, Dunkin' Donuts of Southport.  The accident involved a FedEx tandem tractor-trailer and a small sport-utility vehicle. Lieut. Scott Trembley was the first fire officer on scene established command. The cab and front section of the tandem Fed Ex tractor trailer was laying on the driver’s side, the rear tandem was standing upright. The sport utility vehicle involved in the accident was parked in the center of the roadway.  All occupants were out of their vehicles.  The driver of the tractor-trailer and the two female occupants of the sport-utility received minor injuries and declined treatment. 10:58pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters are on scene at 63 Connecticut Avenue at an abandoned home where a couch was on fire inside the home.  Firefighters on arrival find a fire on the first floor.
