(Bridgeport, CT – March 10, 2014) – A 16-year-old city youth was arrested Saturday after a disturbance at a Park Avenue business.

Officer Kenneth Ruge responded to Asia Travel Metro PCS, 1681 Park Ave., at 2:22 p.m. and learned that an employee had seen a young man take something from a shelf and leave the store. The employee followed him outside and asked him what he took. The suspect and his friends pushed the victim around and fled on foot.

Then at 3:45 p.m., Officer Pasquale Speranza was passing the same location and saw a shirtless young man in the street trying to draw the employee into a fight as another youth stood by with a stick.

The employee told police that the shirtless teen was the same one who was in his store earlier. He and several other youth returned and tipped over shelves in the store, punched the victim and attempted to snatch a cell phone.

The juvenile was charged with attempted robbery, third-degree assault and criminal mischief.
