Malloy today announced the approval of his request for a Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster declaration to mitigate the impact of the fire in Shelton that destroyed personal property and businesses on January 6, 2014. Residents and business owners affected by the fire can now apply for low-interest SBA disaster loans. Man Arrested With Sawed-Off, Double-Barreled Shotgun

#Bridgeport, CT – Jan. 24, 2014 – A city man faces charges after he was found with a sawed-off shotgun. Officer Raymond Ryan responded to the area of 165 Washington Ave. Thursday at 8:30 a.m. on a report of a threatening with a firearm. When police arrived, officers were able to identify a possible victim, who was uncooperative, and a possible suspect. The suspected victim refused to provide any information, so the suspected suspect, after being checked for warrants, was released. Officers observed the suspect and another male walk away but then saw them double back. Bridgeport News: 5 homeless after fire

Video Report: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=palUs6wEjOw 12:02am--#Bridgeport CT--Just after midnight firefighters received a call from police on routine patrol of a fire at 150 Beers Street.  Police reported heavy smoke on the second floor but no fire.  When firefighters arrived they found heavy fire in the basement which found its way to the upper levels.    Homeowner Fred Savino told me that he was asleep with his wife and three children when fire broke out.  "This first thing I did was go for the children" Savino told me.  All made it out safely although the temperature was 13 degrees.  The cold temperatures did cause some issues as the second fire hydrant firefighters attempted to get water from on Fairmont Avenue was frozen.  Firefighters made…
