Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Gun Arrest

#Bridgeport, CT – Oct. 25, 2013 – A motor vehicle stop led to the seizure of a handgun and five arrests. Officer John Topolski pulled over a vehicle on Crescent Avenue Wednesday and, as he approached the vehicle, he observed the occupants moving furtively inside the vehicle and several were making phone calls. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, he noticed that the occupants of the car appeared nervous and the driver stated he had a learner’s permit but no license. Talking to the driver, Topolski asked why he and his passengers appeared nervous and asked if there was anything inside the car that caused them to move around furtively when he approached. Food Truck Burns Down

10:30pm--#Bridgeport CT--#ctfire--Firefighters were called out to the corner of Brooks Street and Arctic Street for food truck on fire.  When firefighters arrived they reported a fully involved vehicle fire and their first concerns was the one hundred pound propane tank on the back of the truck.  Assistant Fire Chief told me the first thing they did was to get water on the propane tank to cool it off.  Their second concern was all the vehicles and building in close proximity of the truck.  Firefighters quickly got water on the truck and kept the fire from extending elsewhere.  The smoke from the fire could be seen from I-95 as far back as the Arena at Harbor Yard. Attempted Citgo robbery in Fairfield

12:44am--#Fairfield CT--Police respond to a panic alarm at the Citgo station at the Post Road.  There was an apparent robbery attempt but it does not sound as if they made off with any money.  The suspect told the clerk he put a bomb in the trash.  The suspect in his mid 20s wore a mask.  He fled south on South Pine Creek Road.  Police have just begun their investigation.
