Mayor Finch, Council Members, State Legislators Join School Children to Celebrate Black Rock School Groundbreaking New addition will bring 10 new classrooms, gymnasium and new playgrounds BRIDGEPORT, CT (October 8, 2013) – Black Rock School students cheered and joined in the effort as Mayor Bill Finch, Supt. Paul G. Vallas, City Council members, State Representatives and tradespeople turned over the ‘ceremonial’ dirt for the new addition to Black Rock School on Tuesday afternoon. The 18,000 square-foot addition includes 10 new classrooms, a multipurpose room that can serve as a gymnasium and assembly space, elevator access to all floors to make it ADA compliant, two new playground structures and a new entrance area on School Street. Police Recover Vehicle Taken in Reported Carjacking

#Bridgeport, CT – Oct. 7, 2013 – Police recovered a vehicle stolen in a reported carjacking Sunday on Wood Avenue. Officer Raymond Ryan checked a parking garage on Poplar Street while searching for a vehicle taken in a carjacking early in the day. He located it and the detective bureau seized and towed it. The incident happened about six hours earlier. The victim, from Norwalk, told Officer Donald Matejek that he was sitting in his 2001 Nissan Quest when an unknown male approached, opened his door and demanded his cell phone, wallet and keys. When the victim questioned the assailant why he wanted the keys, the assailant stabbed the victim several times in the face and neck. The injuries are not believed to be life…

Senior citizens busted on drug possession

#Westport CT—Officers initiated a motor vehicle stop on a motor home that was observed travelling through a red light at the intersection of Riverside Ave and Treadwell Ave. Subsequent to the motor vehicle stop the operator admitted to having a quantity of marijuana in the vehicle. With the assistance of Westport Police Service Dog Koda officers searched the vehicle and recovered the following: 144 Pills marked (M362) identified as Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone 660 mg / 10 mg 3 bags marijuana & 2 smaller containers of marijuana (total weight 80.0g or 2.82 ounces) Bottle of liquefied marijuana extract (total weight: 1077.0g or 2lbs 6 ounces) 3 syringes filled with the liquid marijuana 3 plastic containers of hash (total weight: 24.8g (include…

11:58pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters going back to 40 Sanford Place for an odor of gas indoors. Firefighters were out there earlier tonight for an odor of gas that turned out to be a person cleaning with gasoline.
