CERT Mass Casualty Event Exercise
Stamford CT: About 80 volunteers from the Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) from Bridgeport, Fairfield, Westport, Wilton, New Canaan and Stamford gathered Saturday at the Roxbury Elementary School on West Hill Road, Stamford, where they participated in a 4 hour exercise, training to respond to Mass Casualty Events like hurricane Sandy and the recent train derailment in Fairfield. Training focused on Search and Rescue,Medical Triage and Treatment, Recovery of evidence,Radio Communications and Perimeter control. CERT groups are made up of community volunteers trained by local police and fire fighters to respond and assist during disasters or situations which may overwhelm local emergency resource capabilities. Overnight fire in Fairfield
4:45am--#Fairfield CT--The Fairfield Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at 175 School Street. Car 3 arrived on scene and observed smoke coming from the second floor of a single family residence. The family of four and their dog were all outside of the home when the fire department arrived. One occupant, a 19 year old male, had burns on his hands and face due to exposure. Members from Engine 2 and Ladder 2 quickly entered the building and extinguished the fire. Additional units supported on scene operations and medical care was provided to the victim by on scene fire personnel. 1:21am--#Bridgeport CT--Girlfriend admits to stabbing boyfriend in the chest after she was assaulted by the boyfriend in the 500 block of Norman Street. First responders on the way.
Gunshot victim
12:12am--#Bridgeport CT--A gunshot victim just showed up by private vehicle at St. Vincent's Hospital after a report of shots fired in the Trumbull Gardens area at 455 Trumbull Avenue. The suspects of the shooting ran to Sunshine Circle located behind Trumbull Avenue. Witnesses told me there were about 15 shots fired. There is no word on the victim's condition.
