Walking Beats Return to Three Public Housing Developments

The Bridgeport Housing Authority is partnering with the Bridgeport Police Department to make the city’s housing complexes safer this summer. Through October, the Housing Authority committed funding to staff three housing complexes with two walking-beat police officers every day. The additional patrols will focus on Charles F. Greene Homes, Trumbull Gardens and the P.T. Barnum Apartments, although police and housing officials will maintain flexibility to shift the resources as needed. “People need to feel safe where they live and this is a great additional layer of security for hundreds of families,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “I hope this partnership continues moving forward.” This is one of the new initiatives introduced by Jim Miller, the interim executive director for Bridgeport’s housing…

Man shot and killed & man sought in the shooting

(Bridgeport, CT -- July 24, 2013) -- A city man was fatally shot this evening in the Mill Hill section of Bridgeport. The victim has been identified as Pablo Aquino, 27. He resides in the area. The Victim is believed to have been wounded in the 200 block of Pixlee Place Wednesday evening and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital in a private car. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Detectives are pursuing investigative leads but the investigation remains in its early stages. Police are seeking the public's help in locating a suspect in a fatal shooting Wednesday night. His name is Jose Miguel Torres, 36. Anyone seeing him is asked to contact police at 203-581-5201 or call 911
