The City’s Downtown Road Improvement Project, which began on April 15, is scheduled to be completed by the end of this week, weather permitting.

Paving of North Frontage Road, from Main to Lafayette Blvd., and Lafayette Boulevard from North Frontage Road to John Street is complete.

If weather permits, John Street paving will continue on Friday, May 10. Drivers can expect temporary road closures on John Street as well as temporary detours at the following intersections:

  • John Street and Lafayette Boulevard
  • John and Broad
  • John and Main
  • John and Middle, and
  • John and Water streets.

The majority (80%) of this road improvement project, projected to cost $1.4 million, will be paid through Federal funds from the STP Urban Program.  The City share for the project is 20%.
