An out of state driver possibly unfamiliar with the area and the need to use extra caution at the traffic circle on Route in Fairfield shortly after 9pm Sunday night. The vehicle missed all the islands, went airborne and hit a tree about ten feet off the ground before coming to a rest on its side. The fire department had to remove and extricate the driver through the windshield. The driver was alert and appeared to have non-life threatening injuries. Fairfield Police have begun their investigation to the cause of the accident.

Police tell me apparently a homeowner was cutting down a tree on his property when the guide rope broke landing the tree in the road an not on his property. Not only did the motorcyclist avoid serious injury from hitting the tree or flying over the handlebars but he also avoided being electrocuted by the downed power line that was inches from his head!
