5/18-2012

205am–#Bridgeport–A strong armed robbery just occurred at Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, the victim is now at the Mobil Station at North Ave and Park Ave.  Fire department and EMTs sent to the scene because the victim is having difficulty breathing after the robbery.

12:11am–#Bridgeport–Caribe Market at 560 was just robbed. The robber was armed with two knifes and had a full face mask on. He fled on foot towards Washington Park.

5:17pm–#Fairfield–Victoria Secrets reporting to police that over $600 of panties were just stolen from the store…….I think they gave then the slip!

4:01pm–Police are investigating a one car accident at the corner of Black Rock Turnpike and Commerce Drive Thursday. The car struck a utility pole cause damage to both the car and pole. EMTs checked out the driver who refused treatment.

63 were arrested in New Haven on federal drug charges. All are to be arranged at New Haven Federal Court by the end of today. Judges being brought in from Hartford, Bridgeport and other areas to assist. This was in the Chapel area. The Army National Guard facility at Southern Connecticut State University was used for processing the suspects. There is a very heavy security presences.

#Bridgeport–Reports say the shooter that shot the 3 year old in Bridgeport has been arrested.  Police have arrested Anthony Small, 20,and he is being held on $250,000 bond.

63 were arrested in New Haven on federal drug charges. All are to be arranged at New Haven Federal Court by the end of today.   Judges being brought in from Hartford, Bridgeport and other areas to assist.   This was in the Chapel area.  The  Army National Guard facility at Southern Connecticut State University was used  for processing the suspects. 10:43pm–#Stratford–Walmart has 4 shoplifters in custody waiting for police.

8:12pm–#Bridgeport–Police break up a fight between sisters fighting with knives at 135 Center Street 2nd floor.

6:20pm–#Bridgeport–Neighbor on the the 2nd floor at 135 Washington Avenue threatened the 1st floor neighbor with a handgun.

Just a reminder when shopping to not leave valuables unattended in the shopping cart. A woman shopping at Kohl’s in Fairfield just had her purse stolen that had her credit cards, cash, cell phone and car keys while it was in her shopping cart. There was no one around her when it occurred but when she turned back to her cart the purse was gone. Police will check surveillance video to see if the crime was recorded.

12:11am–#Bridgeport–Multi car accident on Fairfield Avenue in front of The Field. Originally came in as a disturbance at The Field. Report of one person with a bad head injury.

12:12am–#Bridgeport–Worker at the electrical plant on Atlantic Street fell off a ladder and sustained a leg injury.

2:04am–#Bridgeport–A car jacking just occurred in the Hollow section of town.  Taken was a gray 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck with union stickers in the back window.  Taken from the victim besides his truck was his wallet and cell phone.  A gun was displayed and used to pistol whip the victim.

#Milford–11:30pm–The 7-11 on Old Gate Lane was just robbed.  Police are looking for a black male wearing a white hoddie, blue pants and blue gloves.  He was blocking his face.  He fled in a unknown SUV direction not known.

5:33pm–#Bridgeport–False report from an untraceable 911 disposable phone sends police to Atlantic Street for a false report of a man with a gun and then a false call of a fire at Leo’s Pizza at 100 Atlantic Street.   Last week there were a couple of false reports of a shooting in front of the restaurant.

2:42pm–#Bridgeport–Police investigating a found backpack with a shotgun in it under the I-95 overpass at Smith and Beardsley Streets.

5/13/2012

4:30am–Bridgeport–Basement fire at 248 Iranistan Avenue.  Fire marshal quickly requested to the scene.  Reports say an explosion was heard prior to the fire.

2:22am–New Haven– Shooting at 182 Dixwell Ave. with a man shot in the chest and stomach. Police on scene.   Victim was transported to the hospital in traumatic arrest.

2:09am–New Haven–New Haven Police have a crowd problem at Crown and Church Street which is now closed to traffic.

1:48am–West Haven–Report of multiple people shot at 209 Boston Post Road is Jp’s Sports Bar.  New Haven Police requested to assist West Haven Police.

12:52pm–#Bridgeport–Pedestrian struck at the corner or North Ave. and Madison Ave.

7:52pm–Trumbull–Report of a structure fire on Blackberry Road.

1:12pm–#Bridgeport–Bank Robbery at TD Bank-at 975 Madison Ave. Man fled on foot, dye pack found nearby.

8:10pm–Bridgeport–Firefighters were called to Staples on Main Street for smoke in the back of the structure.  Firefighters saw smoke from the back of the structure.  They checked the top of the businesses, then check the wooded area but were unable to locate the source.

10:12pm–Bridgeport–An unknown heavy set woman broke down the door of a 94 year old man’s apartment in the 500 block of William Street.

10:10pm–Bridgeport–A strong armed robbery just occurred in the 500 block of East Washington Avenue. Two attackers fled on foot down William Street. No money or items were taken, just the victim’s identification.

8:15pm–Bridgeport–12 year old girl just had her foot run over by a passing car on Park Street.

1:27am–840 State Street, report of an odor of natural gas. Here come a bunch of fire trucks!

1:01pm–3 shot one confirmed dead on Trumbull Avenue.

5/9/2012

9:29pm–Bridgeport–Car fire in the parking garage underneath the building of Embassy Towers 2625 Park Avenue. Building is being evacuated, fire department being waved in to the back of the building. UPDATE Car fire now out, smoke condition in the building. Fire department to air the building out now.

7:35pm–Bridgeport–Shots fired Charles and Main Street. Nobody shot, a couple of vehicles may have been hit. Police know who they are looking for.

7:12pm–Bridgeport–Check cashing/phone store at 1093 East Main Street robbed at gunpoint. Taken was over $9,000 in cash. Police are investigating.

5:57pm–Bridgeport–Woman left CVS on Huntington Street with a large amount of batteries without paying. Do you think she will be charged?

12:33am–Bridgeport–Tractor trailer smoking on Seaview Avenue near 5th Street.  Fire department on scene.

5/8/2012

4:02pm–#Bridgeport–Report of smoke on the 2nd floor at 84 Barnum Avenue.    Fire department on scene reporting light smoke showing from the outside, going to work.  UPDATE–Turns out to be food burning on the stove, no extensions.

12:10pm–#Bridgeport–An armed robbery just occurred at the barber shop, at 624 East Main Street near the Citgo station not at the gas station as first reported. Police on scene, details as we get them.

11:19am–Bridgeport–Police break up a fight between a couple of women on Main and John Street.

1:17am–Bridgeport–An assualt just took place on Cottage Street.  Police have a description of the car they fled in and diligently working on finding it.

12:30am– Bridgeport–Police and EMTs on the scene for a  Hewitt Street man who has lacerations to the groin inflicted by his girlfriend.

12:01am–Bridgeport–A strong armed robbery and assault just took place on Oak Street not a lot of details on this one mostly due to a language barrier.

Bridgeport– DoingItLocal.com follower  Xavier Pena DahBoss reporting a Bridgeport man was stabbed in the back multiple times during a fight on Shelton Street  and is being treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries

5:55pm–Fairfield–Firefighters were just called in to the Audubon  Society on Burr Street to aid the police in searching for a missing child on the property.  No details on the child have been given at this time.  6:38–UPDATE–Child has been located!

5:16pm–Bridgeport–An armed robbery just occurred at 855 Madison Avenue, in  the parking lot at Subway.  The person was robbed of his i-Pod  by 3 black males who fled on foot  towards Capitol Ave.  A gray revolver was displayed.

4:10pm–Fairfield–Minor accident between a van and school bus on Kings Highway East and Halley Avenue. One student was on board, no apparent injuries.

3:38pm–Fairfield–Shoplifting just occurred at the CVS on Black Rock Turnpike.  Police are investigating.

5/6/2012

3:23am–Bridgeport–A serious assault just took place at 346 Hanover Street.  A 911 call came in from a child that they were choking his mom.  Police were quick on the scene to find a woman with serious cuts to her head.  Police request EMTs to step it up.    A second ambulance was requested to the scene.  A request from police was called to the residence for shackles and a belt, apparently to contain the attacker.

10:40pm–Bridgeport–Caller on a untraceable 911 cell phone called police twice, first saying there was shots fired outside 347 Main Street.  Later he calls back and says there is a person shot outside the pizza restaurant there and that he will wait outside the restaurantt to talk to police.  Police return and find  no shooting victim nor the caller.  Chief Gaudette in the past has told me this is a common tactic to divert police away from another crime being committed elsewhere in town.   No other calls came in at this time.  It is uncertain if this is related to the false 911 call about the McDonald’s being robbed at gunpoint.

9:10pm–Bridgeport/Fairfield–All fast food restaurants checked by police after Bridgeport Police receive a call of the “McDonald’s by PT” is being robbed by a gunman wearing red sneakers turns up to be false.   Police swarmed the Fairfield/Railroad Ave. McDonalds to find the call to be false after checking with the manager.  Police checked all fast food restaurants in Fairfield and Bridgeport as a precaution.

1:10pm–Bridgeport–Man had his gray Honda stolen last month in Shelton.  He spots it today on Nobel Ave. and East Washington Avenue.  He approaches the vehicle and has a gun pulled on him by the three in the car.   Police are looking for the car and investigating.  3:12pm–UPDATE–4 in custody!  Officer spots the car on Stillman and Brooks Street, waited for backup.  After a brief foot pursuit police capture all four suspects, 3 known to be women.

12:50am–Fairfield/Southport–Home broken in to in the 200 block of Center Street while homeowner was home.  Westport canine sent in for tracking.

12:28pm–Bridgeport–If you are parked outside at Scruples on North Ave. you may want to check your car, driver hits two parked cars.

5/5/2012

11:50pm–Fairfield–Firefighter busy with burning bags in the streets.  Earlier on High Street, now on College Park Drive.  Police requested.  Fire department request to preserve any evidence.

10:11pm–Bridgeport–Report of a car fire on Bennett Street, possibly Fox Street.  Call originally came in as Fox Street in Fairfield.

5:14pm–Shelton-A robbery and assault occurred at the Walgreens on 700 Bridgeport Avenue.  Police are looking for   CT Plates- 38X ZDO a 2009 gray Toyota Corolla .

5:05pm–Fairfield–EMTs firefighters called to Fairfield Univesity to the lacrosse field, on the roof where they record the games for someone with a possible cardiac issue.   Challenging extrication to get the man to the ambulance, calling for extra personnel to help.

4:48pm–Bridgeport–Report of an odor of smoke in on the 2nd floor of Beardsley Terrace building ten.  Fire department on the way.  Turns out to be food on the stove burning.

3:23pm–Fairfield–In this week’s chapter of Reading Is Fundamental……   Shortly after 3:10pm a box truck got stuck attempting to go under the  underpass at North Benson Road near the intersection of the Post Road.  The truck cleared the first new underpass but fell short on the second bridge where he became lodged under the trestle.   A heavy duty wrecker was called to the scene.

3:20pm–#Bridgeport–Report of smoke on the first floor North Hall, University of Bridgeport, 79 University Avenue.  Firefighters arrived on the scene.  Turns out to be burning food on the stove.

2:48pm–Fairfield–A man driving around approaching residents  in the Quincy Street area asking if they need any repair work done on their car.  The man is bald heavy set man driving a tan Mercedes.  This is similar to a call of a man in Mercedes offering car repair work in the Stop and Shop parking lot on Tunxis Hill.  This man was seen heading towards Penfield Road.

3:40am–#Bridgeport–Home invasion at 68 Highland Avenue Building 3 on the 7th floor (Greene Homes). 2 black males forced their way into the apartment wearing all black and ski masks.  A gun was displayed and they took a TV and laptop after stabbing the victim in the leg. Police are on scene EMTs on the way. UPDATE– This occurred around 3:15am and a 32″ TV was taken as well as a laptop.

12:45am–#Fairfield #Westport–We have a report of a pursuit on I-95 southbound from Westport exit 18. A white van was wanted for interupted burglary in Fairfield. Stop sticks were deployed but vehicle kept going. The vehicle was lost on kings st towards the parkway in Port Chester NY. UPDATE–Vehicle from pursuit found on Parkway Drive in Portchester with multiple flats. NY reg ERE 6468. Search underway. From Rob Casasanta.

12:27am–#Bridgeport–Report of a man being assaulted by a bat (baseball) on East Main near York Street. EMTs on the way.

5:55pm–#Fairfield–Police on scene after breaking up a fight between kids at Jennings Beach Skate Park. EMTs on the way to evaluate one of the yoots.

Bridgeport–Police are on scene at Green Homes Building Five for a man shot in the leg.

3:30pm–#Bridgeport–Police investigate shots fire into the home of 65 Madison Ave. on the second floor. Bullet lodged into a wall, no injuries reported.

1:09pm–#Bridgeport–2 caught in the act of cutting copper out of Wells Street home by police after a brief foot pursuit on North Avenue and Porter Street. 2 in custody.

12:10pm–#Bridgeport–False alarm gives Central High School a fire drill this afternoon.

11:42pm–#Bridgeport–Gunshot victim at Bridgeport Hospital Emergency Room. Victim was shot near/at the McDonalds on Fairfield Ave. UPDATE–11:52pm–#Bridgeport–We are just learning the shooting victim at Bridgeport Hospital was shot with a BB gun. He was shot near the McDonald’s on Fairfield Ave. The restaurant is closed right now.

10:25pm–#Bridgeport–2 people in a car were just robbed on Harmony Street near Main Street. Two black male suspects, one six foot tall displayed a gun, took their money and fled on Beechmont Ave. Police were flagged down by the victims and are investigating.

3:48pm–#Bridgeport–#Stratford–15 year old takes Bridgeport Police on a chase starting on Capitol/Wayne Street area. A number of parked cars hit in the pursuit. Chase ends on Milne/Harral Ave after canine apprehend him, kid needs EMTs for bite wound. One motorist hurt after being hit by the suspect. 15 year old stole the car from his step parents in Stratford.

12:11pm–#Bridgeport–Motorcyclist hit by car-1700 block of Boston Ave.

11:02pm–#Bridgeport–Use extreme caution in the 1000 block of Capital Ave. Two black males, one tall the other heavy set armed with a gun robbed two Hispanic males at gun point taking $50 dollar on Sampson Street. Another armed robbery by a pair matching the same description just robbed a woman of her cell phone near 1090 Capital Ave.

10:24pm–#Bridgeport #nakedwoman– Woman undressing in the street at Pequonnock Street and Jones Ave.

10:12pm–#Bridgeport–Street robbery just occurred on Shelton Street by three teens, two black one white, one wearing pajamas. Robbed the victim of two pizzas and $40 cash, not certain if it was a pizza delivery person. NO weapons were displayed.

9:28pm–#Bridgeport–2 big accidents–Child struck by car on her scooter on Terrace Circle (off Trumbull Ave.) and a multi-car with injuries at Main and Old Town.

2:45am–#Easton–Structure fire quickly extinguished by firefighters at 305 Sport Hill Road. When we arrived the fire was knocked down and firefighters were removing siding from the front of the house looking for extension.

1:14am–#Monroe–#ctfireReport of a fire on Robin Lane. Heavy fire showing. Shelton called for rapid intervention. UPDATE–1:26am- White Hills providing a full assignment and Shelton providing mutual aid to fire on Robin Lane in Monroe. UPDATE– 2:45–Bulk of the fire was knocked down by 2:45am–3:05am they said they were overhauling the fire and will be releasing units shortly

10:58pm–#Bridgeport–Police are investigating a strong armed robbery on Truman Street. Two black males in hoodies with a gun held up a woman, she offered here purse but they didn’t take it, last seen fleeing on foot towards Park Ave.

9:48pm–#Bridgeport–Single car accident at 25 Island Brook Ave. Woman hits a wall in front of Bud’s Towing.

6:07pm-#Bridgeport–Food burning on the stove is the reason fire department was at the 200 block of Palisades Avenue.

2:29am–#Bridgeport–Wake Up Mill Hill! Car fire on Remington Street. Here come the fire trucks to wake you! Happy Easter!

2:09am–#New Haven–A man walked in to Yale New Haven Hospital with gunshot wound. No word what part of town he was shot at, police are investigating.

1:50pm–#Bridgeport–2 ambulances requested to the club at East Main and Maple Street after police break up a fight at the club.

12:00am–#Fairfield–Major fire averted at pavilion at South Benson Road. Fire department quickly extinguished a trash can fire that scorched the railing and roof of the pavilion. Fire was intentionally set police are now investigating.

11:02pm–#Bridgeport–If you see a woman walking with an IV in her arm in the St. Vincent Hospital area please call police, she’s wanted back in the emergency room.

12:49am–#Bridgeport–An armed robbery just occured at the Mobil Station at 1705 Park Avenue (intersection of North Ave.). Police are looking for a black male in a red shirt with lines, peach pants and sunglasses who fled on foot towards Iranistan Avenue. If you see this man call the police AND the fashion police immediately.

3:44pm–#Fairfield–Minor school bus accident with a car at Congress Street and Hillside Ave. 9 students on the bus none are injured.

2:45pm–#Bridgeport–Food burning on the stove gives a scare of a dorm fire at University of Bridgeport at170 University Ave. North Hall was evacuated, now no hazard.

1:05am–#Bridgeport–A gunshot victim was admitted to Bridgeport Hospital. Police investigating, no details or location of the shooting is known at this time.

4:38pm–#Stratford–Shots fired at 50 Riverview Place. A disturbance between neighbors. Anthony Morellli of 58 Riverview Place admitted to shooting four rounds. Anthony has 5 registered guns, 1-12 gauge shotgun, 2-23′s and 2-22′s. Police are investigating. Dog was not harmed.

4:30pm–#Stratford–Another threat on a dog at 470 Emerald Place, a neighbor threatened the homeowner’s dog and then fled in a green Ford Escape. No shots were fired in this incident. Police are investigating.

‎12:13pm–#Bridgeport–A Bicyclist struck by hit and run driver in front of 140 North Avenue. Police are looking for a green Volkswagen that struck the cyclist and fled the scene. The bike was destroyed but the cyclist only received a scrape on the knee and refused medical treatment.
